Fun Chang Tien 范昌乾

(B. 1907 – 1987)

Fun Chang Tien was born in Jieyang, Guangdong, China. He graduated from Shanghai Xinhua Art Institute in 1928. As a young man, he was outstanding in Guangdong art circles.He arrived in Singapore in 1956 at the age of 49, married Wang Xiuling, a nurse midwife, and set up a studio to teach paintings. During his 31 years in Singapore, Mr. Fan has been interested in classical poetry, taught students in a courteous and tireless manner, and also spread Chinese culture and core values. He taught many future famous painters and cultural laureates. Mr. Fan’s legacy of fine art is enormous.
