Exhibition Overview & Official Invitation

We honor the enduring legacy of the late master painter Mo Mengchu (1920–2012) on the 106th anniversary of his birth with a landmark commemorative retrospective. Organized by Dynasties Antique & Art Gallery and curated with deep reverence by his daughter, artist Mo Ni, “Century of Ink and Color” presents a definitive collection of sixty masterful bird-and-flower works at The Arts House, Singapore.

Mo Mengchu’s brilliant career was defined by a profound mastery of the traditional freehand style, cultivated under early Chinese icons like Wang Chaowen. His disciplined yet spontaneous brushwork captured the vivid spiritual vitality of the natural world. This artistic excellence achieved national prominence in 1960, when his masterpiece, Nursery During the Busy Farming Season, was chosen by President Liu Shaoqi as an official diplomatic gift for ten Eastern European heads of state. Throughout a lifetime spanning historic epochs, Mo steadfastly resisted commercialization, dedicating his energy to mentoring subsequent generations of artists.

The exhibition features culturally symbolic motifs—such as plum blossoms, peach blossoms, and doves—balancing structural force with a refined, luminous palette of layered ink washes and subtle color. We invite you to experience this extraordinary synthesis of deep tradition, lived experience, and poetic visual language.

为纪念先辈画坛巨匠莫孟初先生（1920–2012）诞辰106周年，我们怀着崇高的敬意举办这场里程碑式的百年回望展。本次画展由宣和文物艺术画廊主办，并由其女儿、艺术家莫尼倾心策展，于新加坡“艺术之家”集中呈献六十幅大写意花鸟画精湛力作。

莫孟初先生的艺术生涯波澜壮阔，他早年毕业于四川艺专，得益于王朝闻、赵完壁等艺术大家指教，练就了深厚的传统笔墨功底与坚实的写意语言。他的画作运笔潇洒简洁，将大自然的精神灵动与生命情趣表现得淋漓尽致。1960年，其巅峰之作《农忙托儿站》光荣入选，被国家主席刘少奇选作官方外交国礼，赠予东欧十国元首。纵观其横跨世纪的艺术人生，莫老先生始终淡泊名利、虚怀若谷，坚决远离商业化浪潮，而将毕生心血倾注于严谨治学与培育后人上，堪称桃李满天下。
