Welcome to the retrospective exhibition of Mdm Yang (b. 1917, Singapore), a celebrated pioneer in Chinese and Western art. Tracing her ancestral roots to Chao’an, Guangdong, Mdm Yang was a distinguished educator and master painter, best renowned for her extraordinary skill in finger painting.
Trained at the Nanyang Academy of Fine Arts, her life was dedicated to creative mastery and cultural advancement. As a key leader across prominent institutions—including the Singapore Art Association and the Trinity Finger Painting Association—she significantly shaped the local arts landscape. In 1975, alongside her husband, Mr. Shi Yinzuo, she co-founded the Chung Hwa Art Gallery, cementing her indelible legacy in Singapore’s cultural heritage.
This exhibition honors Mdm Yang’s artistic journey, passion, and lifelong contribution to the arts. We invite you to experience the delicacy, power, and timeless elegance of her 51 pieces of artwork.
