Lim Ah Cheng 林亚清

(B. 1969 – )

Lim Ah Cheng, was born in 1969, is a locally bred talent whose skills have been honed at the Malaysia Institute of Art, under the watchful eyes of master calligrapher Chong Chen Chuan. For the past 14 years, Lim has painted professionally on a full-time basis.

Those who have been following his career will notice that horses and musicians have been recurring subjects, their energy, nobility, and movements all expressed in contemporary style.

The collections in “The Passage” signify a departure of sorts. Horses and musicians are not the only creatures captured in graceful motion – there is also a Balinese dance series. The current painting displays more purity in line and expression; Lim’s use of colours has also sublimated to a more intense and aggressive choice of palette. Lim receives his artistic inspiration from his travel around Asia, capturing the beauty of nature on his canvases.
